Best New Years SkinCare Resolutions? We got you covered!

1) Consume your skincare

What we eat shows on our skin! Consume foods high in nutritional value for great benefits for mood, skin, and overall health!

It's no surprise that what we put into our bodies can affect our skin. Eating a well balanced diet filled with vitamins, minerals, and real whole foods can have great benefits on our mood, skin, and overall health. In addition, don't forget to drink plenty of water! All of the above helps our bodies function as best as possible and while it may not give us clear glowy perfect skin, it will certainly help!

2) Consistency is key

If you aren't on a daily skincare regimen already, you should definitely get started! Consistent maintenance of our skin is key and often the most important pillar for great skin.

Even with the best products fit for your skin, it's worthless without a consistent daily skincare routine! Setting aside time each day to thoroughly cleanse, moisturize, and protect your skin is the key to long term healthy, glowing, clear skin. Of course, skipping one or two days may not cause a sudden breakout, but don't let this overtake your routine and become a bad habit!

3) Sunscreen is non- negotiable. Protect your skin!

Sunscreen is a non-negotiable. The sun's rays can lead to significant damage of the skin's barrier and over time, becomes more difficult to combat. Stick to sunscreen year round!

Regardless of the weather or time of year, the sun's rays can damage your exposed skin. Slowly over time, this repeated damage can lead to sunspots, freckling, poorly textured skin, blemishes, and more. Once these arise, it is much harder to repair than to prevent, therefore wearing SPF daily is extremely important for our skin health and to prevent pre-mature skin aging. Our recommendation is to combine a moisturizer with an SPF factor of 30 to 50. This provides a faster, easier routine to make sure you're not forgetting to apply. Dermalogica's Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF 50 is a rich antioxidant  moisturizer that finishes smoothly and doesn't leave your face looking pale white.

4) Change your pillowcase 2x a month

Change your pillowcase! Twice per month is optimum. Your pillowcase might be the primary driver of breakouts and spot acne!

Our pillowcases can be filthy because it's one of those things we forget so easily to wash and change. Our face is on it for 8hours every single night and with that amount of time, there definitely can be negative results if our pillowcase is dirty. Breakouts, clogged pores, redness, irritation, even allergies can be prevented by maintaining our bed hygiene.

5) Don’t skimp on body care, it’s still skin care!

Body care is skin care! Wash, exfoliate, and lather-in moisturizing lotions. Prevent dryness, hyperpigmentation, and wrinkles with the proper body care products.

Body care is equally as important as our skin care and follows a very similar routine. For skincare, we use products to help prevent and address any problems such as acne, fine lines, dryness, dullness and hyperpigmentation. From moisturizing day and night, exfoliating, to washing, our bodies are just as susceptible to these problems. Because of this we should maintain a skincare AND bodycare routine along with using quality products that don't make our skin worse.

What we put on our skin can be absorbed into our bodies therefore avoiding super abrasive, harsh toxic chemicals, colors and fragrances, etc. is best. For this reason, it's important to invest in quality products just as we do for our skincare products. Look for brands that pride themselves on being free of artificial fragrances and colors, having strong research and development, free of parabens, and more.
