Everything to Know About Color Depositing Masks
Color Depositing Masks are absolute life changers. They’re unlike anything we've seen before in the color industry since they do what we haven't been able to do in the past; color our hair without damaging it in an effective yet semi permanent way. These dual-benefit masks give you beautiful, temporary color, plus all the nourishing benefits of a deep conditioning treatment. Because they come in a variety of shades—ranging from a bright pink to a rich Cocoa—there’s something for just about everyone. Whether it's enhancing your already existing color in between salon visits, or changing it to something fun, color depositing masks are gentle and allow us to express ourselves and have more creativity with our hair, without the damage and risk.
How Long Will My Color Last?
Color depositing masks add temporary color that's designed to naturally fade over time. How long it lasts can depend on a variety of factors including, your starting shade of hair color, how often you wash your hair, what shampoo you're using, and your hair's porosity. In general, if you frequently use heat to style your hair, it's probably on the porous side.
Generally speaking, those with lighter colored and more porous hair will experience a brighter and longer-lasting result. As an example, if you have light brown hair that you've never colored and your best friend has platinum blonde hair, if you both try a bright pink, her hair will likely be pinker and last longer than yours will.
Eventually, the Color Depositing Masks will fade and your natural hair color will reveal itself. If you're looking to speed up the process and get the color to come out faster, contact us at Han's Beauty Stør and our experts will help you!
*Keep in mind, color depositing masks may not color gray hairs! Results will vary among different colors, products, and brands.
Will Color Depositing Masks Color My Hair Evenly?
Our hair typically has different porosity throughout and therefore it's safe to say that as a general rule, lighter strands of hair will color more vibrantly and be longer lasting. In other words, if you have highlights, ombre, or bayalage, expect the color to be more vivid on the pre-lightened areas.
Will My Hair Be Damaged?
No! Color Depositing Masks are non-damaging and do the exact opposite- nourish and moisturize your hair! They do not contain bleach, ammonia, or peroxide (AKA developer or activator) and therefore do not process or lift your hair in anyways.
Some Pro Tips:
-If you want to be extra careful, consider using non-latex powder free gloves to prevent your hands from being stained as a result of the color process. If you forget, warm water and soap will do just fine!
- If you're worried that your hair is too dark for the color depositing mask to grab your hair, try these steps to help give the depositing mask the best chance of working: 1) Apply the color depositing mask into freshly cleaned dry hair. Any hair product or too much water acts as a barrier surround your hair which will inhibit the color depositing mask from coloring your hair. 2) Cover your hair with a processing cap and set your blow dryer on medium heat low speed to go back and forth and add heat.
- To prevent your face and neck from being stained, use vaseline! Or, if the color depositing mask gets on your skin, a simple swipe of hair color stain remover will do the trick.
